A Note to My Patients From WNC Ear Nose & Throat:

I apologize for leaving WNC ENT without being able to tell you!  I was not allowed to send you a letter nor take your contact information with me when I left.  Please let me know your phone number and address.  Either email me or call me.  I'd love to keep in touch!

What I Don't Do

I don't have a sound booth or other equipment to test your hearing properly, and I don't accept or file health insurance.   Don't be fooled by free hearing tests—they are not a bargain when your hearing health is at stake!  Many are simple screenings to fit a hearing aid, not diagnose the medical reason for the hearing loss.

How do you know you are getting a diagnostic audiological evaluation?  The short answer is you will have to pay for it, or more likely, your health insurance will pay for it.  If you are not charged for a diagnostic hearing test, then either the person offering the test is not qualified by Medicare or other insurances to conduct the test OR is not willing to be legally responsible for accurately diagnosing your hearing condition.

You will need to have a copy of your most recent (within the last year) diagnostic audiological evaluation for your appointment.
Medicare and most other health insurances will pay for this and it is usually part of an audiological evaluation.  Be sure to have one done before your audiological evaluation, as the testing is more accurate without wax-plugged ears! If this is a problem for you, please have your doctor check and clean your ears prior to our appointment.  If  your doctor does not perform cerumen removal, he or she will refer you to an ear, nose and throat specialist or an otolaryngologist.
